Lavender Grey Macarons
Time for another International Incident Party by Penny at jeroxie! This month’s theme: Lavender. I was so pleased, because firstly, I love lavender, and secondly, I’ve been wanting to make a lavender macaron for the longest time! So I totally baggsed (a.k.a ‘chope’ in Singlish) this IIP, which I thought was fair, since Soy totally owned the last one on eggs. And she was fine for me to take on this IIP too, since she isn’t a huge fan of lavender.
Oooh, the rich intoxicating aroma of lavender! Our lavender bush has flourished, now that it’s spring, and I’ve been watching the bees hard at work in our backyard. I only wish I could follow them and taste some of that lavender honey they’ll be making!
I’ve mentioned before that I love Earl Grey tea, and when thinking about how to add another complementary flavour dimension to a lavender macaron, Earl Grey popped into my head instantly, and that is how this Lavender Grey macaron was born. Incidentally, I’ve had lavender grey tea, which is exactly the same idea, and I loved it (with honey and soy milk, of course!) So, I infused my ganache with earl grey tea leaves and some lavender buds, and the smells emanating from the pot were sweet and heady… delicious!
Perfect with…. you guessed it! A strong, fragrant cup of tea.
And there you have it, my Lavender Grey macaron with lavender and Earl Grey infused ganache. Sweet, perfumy and the perfect accompaniment for an afternoon cuppa. Thanks again to Penny for this wonderful theme, and helping me to tick off one of my to-bake items!
The recipe for these Lavender Grey macarons will be featured in honeyandsoy’s macaron guide.
